We managed to visit two exhibitions ‘Furniture’ and ‘Light’. Brands-exhibitors impressed us with variety of the interior design development trends: an array of lamps, and furniture items were featured.
For example, a variety of colours - style furniture icons are reissued in new, bright colours, just like the lamps. The interior becomes colourful and the premium class designs show preference for complex colours and their precise combinations. The colour scheme trends were presented by a number of brands: Baxter, Formitalia, Pedrali, Flou и Zanotta. Cassina also featured their new collection of sofas and armchair in vivid colours.
The Green Agenda remains relevant, it’s here to stay.
Phytodesign is the latest tendency: an abundance of greenery in the interior, use of ornamental planters. The lamp may have a planter functions and vice versa. For the luxury style I noted crystal lightful planters Idogi, as well as the Foscarini items: the brand impressed with multi-functional lamps-planters.
Focus on sensual luxury can be seen in many brands. Nude colours, flowing forms, precise notes of sensuality to reach the effect of a soft, relaxing interior. To illustrate it, have a look at a Shibari armchair from the new collection by Visionnaire. The item is notable for its tactility, tender colour and a unique method: imitation of interlaced rope, which resembles the interlaced human hands.
Among the displayed brands we were impressed by Bonaldo with their novelties reflecting the trend on flowing surfaces and patterns, the headliner of the new collection is an elegant armchair with the pied-de-poule pattern.
Tom Dixon introduced a very effective lamp-robot, in ‘innovation and dynamics’ style, which - intrigue! - is able to move. Perciosa showed their crystal lamps to a symphonic music. And, finally, a new collection by Gessi - impossibly beautiful taps with elements made from natural stone and bamboo, that the factory has recently started to use.
But, the main outcome of the exhibition, particularly for the Russian people, is not so much achievement in design as the willingness of Italian designers to work with Russia. The Russians were warmly welcomed, every stand greeting us in keeping with the best Italian traditions.
